ORTHODOX CHURCH IN GEORGIA
Religion in Georgia plays a major role in every day’s life. Georgia was one of the first countries to accept Christianity as an official religion in 327. AD. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the religious suppression that came with it, the people en masse turned their backs on politics and openly embraced the church again. Today this church has a massive influence on Georgian daily life and its politics.
