GEORGIAN MARKETPLACES
Markets in Georgia range from selling cheap China plastic to wine, vegetables and fruits, art, Soviet gas masks and cattle. A lot of people selling their goods on the market depend on it to survive. Many of them got crushed economically in the 90ties and were forced to make ends meet at places such as these. I met a woman at a Tbilisi market who had been the head of cardiology in Tbilisi but was laid off. She’s now selling cheese and homemade booze.
